Citation : Singh AR (2023) Who Was Ghalib .In :Ghalib, Psychology and Human Behaviour - 1 (A.R Singh and S.A Singh Eds), Mens Sana Monogr; 21:1.pg 1

Mirza Asadullah Khan ‘Ghalib (27th Dec 1797 – 15th Feb 1869) was a nineteenth century poet who wrote in Urdu and Persian. His Deewan-e- Ghalib written in Urdu, is world famous. He is the most quoted and arguably, the best poet in Urdu He is also the most admired but, ironically, the least understood of Urdu poets. Writing about himself, he says:

Hoga Kot Mira Bhi Ke Ghalib Ke Na Jane.
Shayer Toh Woh Accha Hai Pes Badnam Behut Has

shaa.ir to vo achchhaa hai pa badnaam bahut hai

(Is there someone who doesn’t know Ghalib?
He maybe a good poet, but he is very anlamous)
