Meaning
Sleep is his, so are high spirits and so the nights
On whose shoulders are your dishevelled locks scattered.
Explanation/Comment:
This is a very amorous ‘sher’
It describes the good fortune of one who spends the nights with her.
Ghalib says he alone can sleep blissfully, he alone can be in high spirits (dimagh), and he alone is the master of the nights the one on whose lucky shoulders her dishevelled locks of hair spread themselves.
There is an obvious reference to great abandon and passion with which she is engaged in love making with someone. And that someone alone is the lucky guy who can sleep peacefully. remain spirited and is the owner of the delights of the night.
Ghalib is imagining the passion that only the fortunate one can enjoy. In so doing, he is not ruling himself out. He is only portraying what all would be the good fortune of the one who enjoys such intimacy.
